This 1961 Chevrolet Apache K10 is a 4×4 Stepside pickup that was purchased new by its late owner from C.W. Sommer, Inc. in Lodi, Ohio and is said to have been primarily used as a farm vehicle by the original owner until his recent passing. The truck is finished in turquoise with white aLents, and power is provided by a 235ci inline-six mated to a three-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Additional features include a period aftermarket turn signal switch, a push-button radio, wooden bed slats, and body-color steel wheels.
The truck was reportedly repainted in turquoise during an older refurbishment following rust repairs and the installation of replacement doors and one replacement rear fender. Features include a white-painted front grille, bumpers, and Chevrolet tailgate lettering. The bed is lined with wooden slats separated by metal retaining strips. Spare doors, interior panels, and fenders will aLompany the sale and are shown in the gallery below. Bubbling can be seen around the edges of the door glass, the driver’s vent window is cracked, corrosion is visible on the bumpers, and paint chips and imperfections are noted around the body.
Body-color 16″ steel wheels are mounted with a combination of older BFGoodrich and Kelly Springfield tires, all of which show sidewall cracking. Braking is handled by four-wheel drums, and the truck rides on leaf springs and solid axles front and rear.
The cabin features a bench seat with a blue vinyl base and a gray vinyl back as well as green-painted steel surfaces, a lockable glovebox, a period Napa turn-signal switch, a black rubber floor mat, and a floor-mounted transfer case shift lever. Scratches, scuffs, and wear are noted throughout, and rust holes are visible above the center of the windshield.
A two-spoke steering wheel frames a 100-mph speedometer, gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level, and warning lights for oil pressure and generator charge. The five-digit odometer shows 3k miles. True mileage is unknown.
The 235ci inline-six has been painted to match the body and features a single carburetor and an oil-bath air cleaner. The seller notes a leaking carburetor gasket.
Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a column-shifted three-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case.
