This 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air coupe was refurbished and modified between 2007 and 2010, including the installation of a 5.7-liter LS1 V8 and GM 4L60E four-speed automatic transmission. The car was refinished in metallic silver and green, and the interior features bucket seats upholstered in olive leather along with a custom center console, power windows, and a Kenwood CD stereo. Additional equipment includes a cowl induction hood, a custom chassis with four-link rear suspension, Vintage Air A/C, four-wheel Wilwood disc brakes, and chrome Billet Specialties wheels. This modified Bel Air is being offered by the selling dealer in Huntington, New York with photos and receipts from the build and a clean Colorado title.
Previously finished in red and white, the body was stripped to bare metal and fitted with a custom cowl induction hood prior to a repaint in metallic silver with a green lower section and red pinstripes. Various trim pieces and badging were deleted, along with the front 3/4 windows. The rear bumper was notched for the dual central exhaust outlets, and additional features include an extended front bumper, set back front headlights with Porsche lenses, motorcycle side-view mirrors, and door handles sourced from a Jaguar.
Polished 18” front and 20” rear Billet Specialties wheels are wrapped in Toyo Proxes tires, and stopping power is provided by cross-drilled four-wheel discs paired with Wilwood calipers. The car rides on a custom chassis and features triangulated four-link rear suspension.
The cabin features front bucket seats sourced from a later-model vehicle and reupholstered in olive leather with beige fabric center sections aLented by red pinstripes. Additional features include a custom center console, a Vintage Air A/C system, cruise control, power windows, and a hidden Kenwood CD stereo wired to a trunk-mounted Infinity amplifier.
A three-spoke steering wheel mounted to an ididit column frames a suite of Classic Instruments gauges that includes a combination gauge with a 140-mph speedometer and an 8k-rpm tachometer. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows just under 7k miles, though total mileage is unknown.
The 5.7-liter LS1 V8 features a custom spark plug cover, a short ram intake, aluminum radiator, and polished valve covers. The selling dealer reports that fluid changes were carried out in late 2020.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a GM 4L60E four-speed automatic transmission. Abrasions are noted ahead of the fuel tank and on the passenger-side chassis rail.
