This 1958 Mercedes-Benz 219 is a running project that was purchased in August 1982 by the seller, who said to have kept the car in storage since 1998. The body was repainted by the seller in 1994 to address cosmetic imperfections and features a fender-mounted antenna, fog lights, and a folding sunroof. The seller notes that the bumpers were re-chromed at the time of the repaint. A spare set of uninstalled rubber weatherstripping for the windshield and rear window is included in the sale.
13″ steel wheels wear three polished covers with body-color aLents and one non-matching hubcap on the right-front wheel. Pirelli Cinturato P3 tires were fitted by the seller in 1982 and display wear and sidewall cracking, and a matching spare is stored in the trunk. The seller notes the brakes were last serviced in the 1990s and require maintenance.
The cabin features red upholstery that was installed in 1984 on the front bucket seat, rear bench equipped with a fold-down armrest, and color-coordinated door panels. A Becker Mexico radio is fitted within the factory location, and a Craig eight-track player is mounted under the dashboard. Per the seller, the headliner requires reattachment to the rear window.
The car is equipped with a two-spoke steering wheel with a separate horn ring, and the four-speed manual transmission is shifted from the column. Instrumentation includes a 100-mph VDO speedometer flanked by a quartet of auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 67k miles, approximately 2k of which were added by the seller.
The 2.2-liter M180 inline-six features a single downdraft carburetor and produced 85 horsepower when new. Shifting is through a four-speed manual transmission, which the seller notes pops out of second upon deceleration. The fuel tank was removed to repair a leak in February 2021.
