This 1968 Jeepster Commando convertible was acquired by the seller in the beginning of 2021 and has been refinished in red over red. Power comes from a 225ci V6 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case, and equipment includes a replacement black soft top, a tan boot cover, aftermarket wheels, locking front hubs, power-assisted drum brakes, power steering, a Grant steering wheel, and a hidden Pioneer stereo. Service since 2018 is said to have included removing and repairing the transfer case, cleaning the single-barrel carburetor, installing an electric fuel pump and electronic ignition kit, a tune-up, and an oil change.
The truck has been disassembled and refinished in red, and the black canvas soft top was replaced in 2015. Features include a tan boot cover and chrome-finished bumpers.
Five-spoke 15″ wheels wear American Racing center caps and are mounted with 235/75 BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO tires, and a matching spare will aLompany the truck. The front axle is equipped with locking hubs, and the truck features power-assisted drums and steering.
The interior features front bucket seats and a rear bench with red upholstery. The doors, carpeting, and rear trim match the seats, and a console with diamond-plate trim separates the front seats. An AM radio is mounted in the factory location, a Pioneer stereo has been added in the glovebox, and Polk speakers have been installed in the kick panels.
A Grant GT steering wheel sits ahead of instrumentation that includes a 110-mph speedometer flanked by rectangular auxiliary gauges; the fuel gauge was repaired in 2019. The five-digit odometer shows just under 98k miles.
The 225ci Dauntless V6 was rated for 160 horsepower and 235 lb-ft of torque when new. Work in 2019 included a tune-up, cleaning the single-barrel carburetor, and installing an electric fuel pump as well as an electronic ignition kit. The oil was last changed in December 2020.
Power is delivered to the rear or all four wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The transfer case was removed in 2018, at which point the shifter was repaired and the case was resealed.
