This 1967 Ford Mustang GTA fastback was built on January 18, 1967 and purchased new by the seller’s father, an employee of Philco-Ford. Finished in Springtime Yellow over a Saddle interior, the car is powered by a 289ci V8 paired with a C4 three-speed automatic transmission and features air conditioning, a push-button AM radio with an eight-track player, electric choke, power steering, black side stripes, dual exhaust outlets, and 14” alloy wheels.
The car is one of just 65 examples finished in Springtime Yellow (8) over Saddle for the model year and features front driving lights, quad exhaust outlets, and black GTA side stripes. The seller notes that an aLident in 1981 resulted in damage to the radiator support, as well as the driver-side front fender, and front and rear fender aprons. A replacement radiator support, driver-side fender, and outer front fender apron were installed, though the fender was reportedly damaged during shipping. Body filler was applied to several areas of the vehicle in 1983 and a subsequent partial repaint was carried out, though filler is evident around an area of rust-through in the lower passenger door.
The 14” wheels feature Mustang center caps and are wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires sized 215/70. Braking is through front discs with rear drums, and a full-size spare is found in the trunk. The seller notes that the suspension has been refreshed, a GT350-spec front sway bar has been added, and the power steering pump and hoses have been replaced. Flaws include creases in the sidewalls of the driver-side tires along with areas of paint loss on the wheels.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in Saddle vinyl (6F) with a matching dashboard, door panels, and brown loop carpets protected by rubber Mustang-branded floor mats. Amenities include a center console, a push-button AM radio with an eight-track player, air conditioning, and courtesy lights.
A three-spoke steering wheel with brushed aLents is mounted to a tilt-away steering column and frames instrumentation including a 120-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The five-digit odometer is reported to have rolled over once and currently shows 19k miles.
The 289ci V8 features a chrome air cleaner cover and aluminum 289-branded valve covers, and the seller reports that the cylinder heads have been refreshed some time ago and the carburetor was rebuilt. A PerTronix distributor, an aluminum radiator with an electric fan, dual exhaust system, and electric choke have been added, along with a replacement water pump, oil pump, crankshaft damper, timing chain, and gears. The seller notes that a cracked A/C evaporator box hose was replaced around 1982, and states that the oil pressure drops after the engine has run for an extended length of time in warmer weather. The removed distributor and air cleaner cover are included in the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a C4 three-speed automatic transmission. The seller reports that the transmission and differential have been refreshed in the last 1k miles and the U-joints have been replaced.
