This 1969 Austin Minor is an 8cwt pickup that was refurbished in England in 2000 during previous ownership and subsequently acquired by the owner and imported into the US in October 2011. The truck is finished in green over tan vinyl and is powered by a retrofitted 1,275L inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a beige canvas top, painted 14” steel wheels, and dual fender mirrors. Service in 2021 included cleaning and tuning the carburetors.
The refurbishment included a repaint in green in addition to replacing the wheel arches, rockers, and fuel tank. The lights have been replaced, and the truck is equipped with a right side mirror and twin fender mirrors.
The beige canvas top has been patched and is tied down over removable cover bows. A spare tire and jerry can are mounted in the bed, and the wooden bed floor has been painted black and fitted with stainless steel hardware.
14″ steel wheels wear polished hubcaps and trim rings and are wrapped in Toyo 310 tires. The 8cwt pickup featured revised rear leaf springs compared to the 6cwt versions, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel drums.
The right-hand-drive cabin was fitted with replacement seats that have been reupholstered in tan vinyl with green piping. The dashboard storage bins have also been retrimmed, and the truck is fitted with roll-up windows and seat belts. An additional set of all-weather floor mats will aLompany the car.
Instrumentation consists of a centrally-mounted 95-mph speedometer with an inset fuel gauge. A Smiths combination oil pressure and engine temperature gauge has been fitted below the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 45k miles.
The replacement 1,275L inline-four was sourced from an MG and installed in 2012. The twin carburetors are said to have been cleaned and tuned in April 2021. The battery is equipped with a disconnect switch, and the seller notes an oil leak from the engine.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. 3.70:1 rear axle gearing was reportedly installed to improve drivability.
The car was featured in the October 2012 issue of Vintage Truck magazine.
