This 1969 Jaguar XKE is a Series II 2+2 example that was purchased by the seller’s father approximately 25 years ago and acquired by the seller in 2019. Finished in silver over red leather, the car is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Features include a custom quad-exit exhaust system, triple SU carburetors, four-wheel disc brakes, and 15” knock-off wire wheels. The brake system was overhauled in 2020, and the spark plugs and ignition wires were also replaced at that time.
Updates to the Series II XKE included a revised headlight design as well as horizontal taillights that sit below the wrap-around rear bumper. This example was repainted in its current shade of silver around 23 years ago.
The polished 15” wire wheels are secured with knock-off hubs and mounted with 185-width Michelin and Coker Classic red-stripe tires. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rears, and work in 2020 included rebuilds of the calipers along with replacement of the brake pads, rotors, and hydraulic steering rack. A full-size spare is found in the rear storage area.
The 2+2 cabin features seats trimmed in red leather with matching door panels, carpets, and a black dashboard. Shoulder belts are fitted for front oLupants, and the seller notes that the headliner is in need of repair. Additional issues include an inoperable horn, radio, and air conditioning system.
A wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel with an E-Type center cap frames Smiths instrumentation that includes a 6k-rpm tachometer and a 160-mph speedometer. Additional gauges in the center of the dash consist of an analog clock along with displays for voltage, oil pressure, fuel level, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows just under 36k miles.
The 4.2-liter inline-six has been fitted with triple SU carburetors and a custom quad-outlet exhaust. Maintenance in 2020 included an oil change along with replacement of the spark plugs and ignition wires.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission that is said to have received a replacement clutch during its time with the seller’s father.
