This 1964 Ford Falcon Ranchero Deluxe was manufactured at Ford’s San Jose, California facility and special-ordered through the San Jose sales district. It was acquired by the seller in April 2016 as a project and subsequently has been refurbished and modified. The car is finished in teal over a black interior, and power comes from a replacement 302ci V8 and a five-speed T5 manual transmission. Other features include 15″ Cragar wheels, power-assisted front disc brakes, 3.25:1 gears, front shock-tower supports and chassis reinforcements, a Holley carburetor, an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold, tubular headers, a dual exhaust system, a four-core radiator, a relocated fuel filler, air conditioning, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a Sony CD player. The multi-year refurbishment process is said to have been completed in March 2021.
The vehicle was refinished in its current teal during the refurbishment. Features include a fuel filler that has been relocated from the driver-side quarter panel to inside the bed, a dual-outlet exhaust system, and bright-finished details such as the front grille, side mirrors, window surrounds, trim, and bumpers.
Chrome-finished 15″ Cragar wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires with raised white lettering. The braking system is said to have been overhauled and features power-assisted front discs and rear drums. Front shock-tower supports and chassis reinforcements have been added along with later-model steering components. Other work included relocating the front upper control arms and installing trimmed front springs, Mustang-style front shock mounts, and an aftermarket front sway bar.
The bench seat has been retrimmed in black with a matching dash pad, door-panel inserts, and carpeting. Sheetmetal surfaces are finished in the exterior color. Equipment includes air conditioning, lap belts, headrests, vent windows, Ranchero-branded floor mats, later-model chrome knobs, and a Sony AM/FM/CD player. The seller states that the car has been rewired.
A wood-rimmed steering wheel is mounted to a rebuilt steering column that fronts instrumentation that reportedly was sourced from a 1966 Mustang and includes a 140-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, amperage, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer indicates 36k miles.
The original 260ci V8 has been superseded by a replacement 302ci V8 that was rebuilt by the seller and features a Holley four-barrel carburetor, an Edelbrock Performer aluminum intake manifold, Cobra-branded ribbed-aluminum valve covers, tubular headers, a finned oil pan, a replacement four-core radiator, and a bright-finished air-conditioning compressor.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a replacement five-speed T5 manual transmission and a 3.25:1 rear end.
