This 1979 Ford F-350 Ranger XLT Lariat was originally delivered to Garten Ford Inc. of Fall River, Massachusetts, and was acquired by the seller in 2020. The truck is finished in tan and brown over a matching interior, and power is from a 400ci V8 mated to a three-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Additional equipment includes a chrome front bumper, a rear step bumper, a gooseneck hitch, rear mud flaps, an AM/FM radio, air conditioning, cruise control, power steering, and polished aluminum 16″ wheels. Service within the last year included rebuilding the carburetor as well as replacement of the power steering pump, spark plugs, fuel sending units, air filter, and distributor components.
The truck is believed by the seller to have been repainted in the late 1980s, reportedly after the tailgate sustained damage as part of a theft and recovery in 1989. Equipment includes a rear step bumper, western-style side mirrors, rear floodlights, receiver and gooseneck hitches, rear mud flaps, and clearance lights. The cargo bed features matching two-tone paint and is equipped with a polished tailgate cover and side rails, an under-floor storage compartment, cargo tie-down points, and two trailer wiring plugs.
Polished aluminum 16″ wheels wear General Grabber A/T tires and are mounted over manually-locking hubs up front. A spare is housed beneath the bed. The power steering pump is said to have been replaced under current ownership.
The cab features a front bench seat upholstered in tan cloth with a two-tone vinyl ribbed center section as well as color-matched door panels and carpets. The dashboard is finished in brown with woodgrain aLents, and houses the air conditioning and heater controls in addition to an AM/FM radio.
Instrumentation features silver bezels and includes an 85-mph speedometer as well as gauges for battery charge, oil pressure, fuel level, and water temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 36k miles.
The 400ci V8 was rebuilt during previous ownership and serviced in 2020 with a carburetor rebuild as well as replacement of the spark plugs and air filter. The distributor cap and rotor were changed in preparation for the sale. The truck is equipped with two fuel tanks, and the sending units for both have also been replaced.
Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission, a dual-range transfer case, and 4.10:1 differentials.
