This 1973 Toyota Land Cruiser was acquired by its current owner out of New Mexico in 2012, and it subsequently received a cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment. Work included refinishing the exterior in green, refreshing the black interior, modification of the 3.9-liter F inline-six, and fitting a Toyota H55F five-speed manual transmission. Additional modifications include a rebuilt 2F cylinder head, a roll cage, fuel injection, a winch, dual batteries, a suspension lift, front disc brakes, LED exterior lighting, aftermarket wheels, Bestop seats, and a hardtop and full-frame doors.
According to the seller, the body was refinished in Judson Green, the glass, body seals, and front fenders were replaced, and a removable hardtop with a Cygnus White-painted fiberglass roof was fitted along with full-frame doors. The lower body panels are finished in matching bedliner material, and additional features include a Mile Marker winch mounted to the front bumper as well as LED lighting. A color-matched split tailgate is included in the sale, and the seller notes the presence of rust on portions of the tub.
The suspension is modified with a Cool Cruisers of Texas 2.5″ lift kit, and aftermarket 15″ wheels are fitted with 31×10.5″ Cooper STT Maxx tires. A matching spare is mounted to the rear swing-away carrier. Braking is handled by discs up front and drums at the rear, and the truck is equipped with FJ60-sourced power steering.
The interior is outfitted with bucket seats sourced from Bestop trimmed in black upholstery, and black bedliner material was applied on the floor. The three-spoke steering wheel fronts a Dakota Digital instrument cluster, and further additions include a device for the programmable fuel injection as well as a lockable storage cubby and a replacement headliner fitted over an application of sound insulation.
The six-digit odometer was zeroed at the time of the refurbishment and now shows just over 1k miles, with true mileage unknown. The removed factory instrumentation is included in the sale.
The 3.9-liter straight-six is equipped with a Holley Sniper fuel injection unit and was fitted with a rebuilt 2F cylinder head during the refurbishment according to the seller, who states that work included the relocation of the fuel pump to the fuel tank and rebuild of the wiring harness as well as replacement of the water pump, radiator, and coolant hoses. A ceramic-coated header was sourced from Spectre Off-Road and is linked to a Dynaflow muffler. The truck is equipped with dual batteries.
Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through an OEM replacement Toyota H55F five-speed manual transmission sourced from Rising Sun Japanese Auto Service in Austin, Texas and fitted with replacement clutch components and a rebuilt dual-range split transfer case. Further updates include a rebuild of the Birfield joint on the 1976-specification front axle.
