This 1959 Ford Galaxie Skyliner is finished in black over a red and black interior and is powered by a 332ci V8 mated to a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a retractable folding hardtop, an AM radio, whitewall tires, chrome bumpers, and fender ornaments. The seller acquired the car in 2015 and subsequent service has consisted of repairs to the power steering pump and replacement of the trim, weatherstripping, carburetor, fuel tank and sender, spark plugs and wires, water pump, and engine gaskets and seals.
The car was originally finished in Raven Black and was repainted prior to the seller’s acquisition. The powered retractable “Hide-Away Hardtop” utilizes seven reversible electric motors and four lift jacks and is shown in detail in the gallery below. Additional features include dual exhaust outlets, chrome bumpers and trim, and a radio antenna. The exterior door handles, exterior trim, and weatherstripping have reportedly been replaced and three hardtop motors rebuilt. Two side view mirrors are reportedly included in the sale.
The 14″ steel wheels wear full-face covers as well as whitewall tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and service under current ownership included replacement of the front and rear shocks, the rear leaf springs, and a power steering pump reseal.
The interior features seats upholstered in Torch Red Sof-Textured Vinyl and Raven Striped Nub fabric with Silver Strand (56). Additional amenities include an AM radio, a clock, ashtrays, and black carpets. Work performed under current ownership is said to have included replacement of the door panels as well as under-carpet insulation. An uninstalled trunk liner is said to be included in the sale.
The red steering wheel fronts a column shift lever and a horizontal 120-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer displays just over 11k miles.
The 332ci FE V8 produced 225 horsepower when new. Service under current ownership has consisted of a tune-up and replacement of the four-barrel carburetor, fuel tank and sender, battery, water pump, and various gaskets and seals.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a Cruise-O-Matic three-speed automatic transmission. The driveshaft is said to have been balanced under current ownership.
