This 1962 Chevrolet Corvette was acquired approximately 18 years ago by the seller and subsequently underwent a body-off refreshment by Mann’s Corvette Shop of Mishiwaka, Indiana. Finished in red over black vinyl, the car is powered by a numbers-matching 327ci V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission and a Positraction differential. Equipment includes a body-colored removable hardtop, front disc brakes, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and 15” steel wheels with chrome covers.
Fiberglass bodywork is finished in red with matching coves. The frame was repaired and refinished in 2004, at which time the body mounts reinforced, the weatherstripping replaced, and the windshield and door posts were re-plated. A replacement white soft top has been installed, and a body-colored removable hardtop is also included in the sale.
The 15” steel wheels feature chrome covers with faux knock-off spinners and are mounted with 205/75 Firestone white-stripe tires. Stopping power is provided by front discs with rear drums, and the seller reports that a replacement front crossmember, brake lines, and shocks were installed during the refurbishment. A full-size spare is found in the trunk.
The cabin features bucket seats that have been reupholstered in black vinyl along with a matching dash pad, door panels, and carpets. Lap belts are fitted for both occupants, and amenities include black rubber floor mats, an analog clock, and a dash-mounted rear-view mirror.
An aftermarket leather-wrapped steering wheel sits ahead of a refinished black dashboard housing a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows just under 79k miles.
The 327ci V8 was rebuilt in 2004, at which time the cylinders were reportedly re-bored, and the pistons, rings, camshaft, timing chain, wiring harness, and exhaust system were replaced. The seller notes an oil change in late 2020.
Engine suffix RE indicates a 327ci, 340 horsepower V8 for manual transmission applications.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a Positraction differential, both of which have reportedly been resealed.
