This 1969 Pontiac Firebird convertible was acquired by the seller in September 1987 and has been refurbished and modified over the years. The car is finished in black with pearl white stripes over a matching interior and is equipped with a 400ci V8 fitted with a Holley carburetor, Edelbrock intake manifold, Pro Tru pistons, 6X cylinder heads, and Hedman headers. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed 200-4R transmission fitted with a torque converter and a Positraction rear end, and additional equipment includes Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes, a dual exhaust system, a power-operated black soft top, power windows, and 17″ Foose alloy wheels.
Originally finished in Windward Blue (87A), the car received a two-stage repaint in its current shade of black with pearl white stripes following replacement of the trunk, hood, floors, door skins, both rear quarter panels, and the floors. Equipment includes a replacement power-operated black soft top, dual hood scoops, fender vents, a rear spoiler, aluminum door handles, and aftermarket window tint.
Polished 17″ Foose alloy wheels are wrapped in Cooper Zeon rubber up front and Kumho Ecsta tires out back that show 2006 production codes. The car is equipped with Wilwood disc brakes at each corner, and the brake booster and master cylinder were replaced in August 2017.
The seats were reshaped with steel wire and fitted with replacement foam padding before being reupholstered in black and white leather. Custom door panels were also installed, and sound deadening was added to the floors prior to replacement carpets. Power windows and a tilt steering column have also been added.
An aftermarket three-spoke steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer while aftermarket gauges are housed in the center console. The speedometer is inaccurate and contains an inoperable five-digit mechanical odometer that shows 77k miles.
The replacement 400ci V8 was built in 2005 and is equipped with Pro True pistons, oversized valves, roller rockers, a Ram Air III-style camshaft, Hedman long-tube headers, a Flowmaster dual exhaust system, and a Holley carburetor fitted atop an Edelbrock intake manifold. Pontiac 6X cylinder heads were installed the following year, and additional features include an aluminum radiator, HEI ignition, polished fender braces, and billet hood lift supports. The seller notes a replacement wiring harness has been installed, the water pump divider plate was replaced in August 2017, and an oil change and inspection were performed in April 2021.
The four-speed automatic transmission is equipped with overdrive and a 2,200-rpm stall torque converter that was installed in August 2017. The rear wheels are driven through a Positraction rear end with 3.90:1 gearing.
