This 1940 Ford Deluxe Convertible Club Coupe was acquired by the seller’s family in August 2010 and was subsequently refurbished in California before being relocated to Texas. Finished in black over red leather, the car is powered by a Flathead V8 paired with a three-speed manual transmission and an overdrive unit. Equipment includes a tan convertible top, amber driving lights, chrome bumpers, dual side mirrors, whitewall tires, and an AM radio.
The car was painted black during the refurbishment and features a replacement power-operated tan convertible top. Additional exterior details include amber driving lights, chrome bumpers with overriders, dual side mirrors, running boards, chevron taillights, and polished dual exhaust outlets.
Steel 16″ wheels feature chrome Ford hubcaps and trim rings and wear BFGoodrich Silvertown whitewall tires. Stopping power is provided by hydraulically-assisted drum brakes at all four corners.
The interior features bench seats upholstered in red leather along with matching door panels, sun visors, and black rubber floor mats. Amenities include a two-way adjustable driver’s seat, vent windows, an analog clock, and an AM radio.
The two-spoke steering wheel frames a column-mounted tachometer, a 100-mph speedometer, and auxiliary gauges. Aftermarket gauges for oil pressure and water temperature are mounted below the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 57k miles, and total mileage is unknown.
The Flathead V8 was rebuilt by Taylor Engines in Whittier, California in February 2008 and features custom JE pistons, a SCAT crankshaft and connecting rods, and a Sharp intake manifold and heads. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed manual transmission equipped with a Lincoln-Zephyr gearset. The seller states that a Columbia overdrive unit is installed.
