This 1974 MG MGB Roadster is finished in yellow over black and is powered by a replacement 1.8-liter inline-four paired to a four-speed manual transmission equipped with overdrive. Features include a black soft top, black tonneau cover, rear wind deflector, and chrome bumpers with overriders. The car was acquired by the seller in 2005, and subsequent service has consisted of rebuilding the engine in 2006, and adjusting the valves, refreshing the carburetors, and installing a refurbished distributor in 2019.
The exterior was repainted in its current shade of yellow under prior ownership and features a black tonneau cover, black convertible top, a rear wind deflector, and polished side moldings. Chrome adorns the grille surround, front and rear bumpers, light surrounds, windshield trim, and side mirrors. Replacement door and boot locks have been fitted along with LED tail light bulbs.
Painted 14″ Rostyle wheels wear chrome trim rings and are fitted with older 185/70 Kumho Solus tires. In 2015 the left rear damper was reportedly rebuilt and replacement front brake pads were installed. The brake system has been converted to use DOT 5 fluid, and the rubber boots on the steering rack are worn.
The interior features black upholstery on the seats along with matching dashboard trim, door panels, and carpets. Equipment includes a wooden shift knob, high-back bucket seats, seat belts, and MG-logo floor mats.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer, 7k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 82k miles, approximately 25k of which were added by the seller. The seller states replacement halogen instrumentation bulbs have been installed.
The 1.8-liter inline-four is reportedly a replacement unit from a 1971 MGB. Twin SU carburetors are fitted and were reportedly rebuilt using replacement jet needles and floats in 2019. A valve adjustment and distributor refurbishment were also completed in 2019, and a replacement battery was installed. According to the seller, the clutch has been replaced, and there is rust on the shelf at the firewall near the brake and clutch master cylinders.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a replacement four-speed manual transmission equipped with overdrive.
Manufacturer’s literature is included in the sale along with spare parts, repair manuals, service records, and a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate.
