This 1955 Oldsmobile Super 88 is one of 9,007 convertible examples produced for the model year and is finished in blue over a blue and white interior. Power is from a 324ci Rocket V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a white soft top, a power-adjustable front bench seat, 15″ wheels, power steering, power-assisted brakes, an AM radio, rear fender skirts, and chrome bumpers and trim. The car was refurbished under prior ownership and was purchased by the current owner in 2019 out of Texas.
Originally finished in Bimini Blue Metallic (42), the car received a cosmetic refurbishment under prior ownership that included a repaint in the current blue. A replacement white soft top was installed at that time, and the chrome bumpers and trim were refinished. Equipment includes a wraparound windshield, a rocket-inspired hood ornament, and rear fender skirts.
Steel 15″ wheels are finished in blue and wear chrome covers and 225/75 whitewall tires. A full-size spare tire is mounted in the trunk, and the car is equipped with power steering and power-assisted brakes.
The cabin features blue and white upholstery on the seats and door panels, along with a matching two-tone padded dashboard and blue carpets. Equipment includes a power-adjustable split front bench seat, a heater, an AM radio, and a power antenna, along with front and rear lap belts that were installed under prior ownership. The door panels are held in place with screws, and the seller notes that the windshield wipers do not work and that the wind lacing needs to be replaced.
The two-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring and frames a 120-mph speedometer and gauges for amperage, coolant temperature, fuel level, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 74k miles.
The 324ci Rocket V8 was factory rated at 202 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission.
Manufacturer’s literature, a spare top boot, and spare parts are included in the sale.
