The exterior is finished in Cabernet Red Metallic (172) with contrasting lower cladding and features headlight wipers, heated side mirrors, a sliding sunroof, and a power antenna. The Carfax lists a front-end accident in November 2003, and paintwork to the hood and on the front fascia under the headlamps was conducted by Lee’s Garage of Long Branch, New Jersey in preparation for the sale.
The SDL was 5.5″ longer than the standard W126 sedan, affording additional legroom for rear-seat passengers. Factory 15″ Gullideckel alloy wheels were refinished by the seller and wear a set of Pirelli tires fitted in preparation for the sale. A matching spare fitted with a Continental tire is equipped in the trunk.
The cabin features Creme Beige leather (275) upholstery with matching treatments for the door trim and carpets, while wood trim was refinished by Madera Concepts of Goleta, California. Equipment includes automatic climate control, power-adjustable front seats, a power-adjustable steering column, and a Becker Grand Prix stereo as well as power-operated windows, courtesy lamps in the doors, and Coco mats fitted by the seller.
VDO instrumentation consists of a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, and oil pressure. The six-digit odometer shows 146k miles.
The 3.0-liter OM603 turbodiesel inline-six was factory rated at 148 horsepower and 201 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels through a rebuilt four-speed automatic transmission said to have been rebuilt by In Gear Transmissions & Differentials of Manasquan, New Jersey. Additional service performed in the last four months included changing the oil, flushing the coolant and brake system, rebuilding the A/C control unit, servicing the wheel bearings, and replacing the following components:
