This 1972 Jaguar XJ6 is finished in black over tan leather and is powered by a replacement 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a replacement GM-sourced four-speed automatic transmission. The car was acquired by the seller in 2000, and work performed under current ownership has included a repaint as well as the replacement of the engine and transmission, steering components, brake components, battery cables, distributor cap, and ignition wires.
The car was refinished in black in 2003 and features chrome bumpers with overriders, grilles, headlight surrounds, door handles, and window trim. A replacement rear valence was fitted, and the seller notes that three rust holes in the floorboards were patched with fiberglass at the time of the repaint. Rust spots on the driver-side front fender, rocker panel, and rear door were reportedly repaired with fiberglass patches and repainted circa 2019.
15″ wheels are mounted with Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S tires that show 2010 date codes. Replacement steering components and front brakes are said to have been sourced from a 1985 XJ6 and installed under current ownership, and the brake master cylinder and rear calipers were reportedly rebuilt.
The cabin features tan leather upholstery on the seats and door panels along with matching carpets and wood paneling on the dashboard. Amenities include power windows, ashtrays, and a Kenwood cassette stereo with a trunk-mounted CD changer.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation consisting of 140-mph speedometer and a tachometer. A centrally mounted pod houses a clock and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The tachometer and clock do not work. The five-digit odometer shows 33k miles.
The replacement 4.2-liter inline-six was reportedly sourced from a 1985 XJ6 and installed in 2007 along with triple SU HD8 carburetors. The seller reports the battery cables, distributor cap, and ignition wires have been replaced under current ownership, and modifications include a GM-style alternator, a Mocal engine oil cooler, and dual electric cooling fans.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a replacement General Motors 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission that was installed in 2007 according to the seller. The rear subframe bushings were reportedly replaced, and the seller notes holes in the mufflers.
