This 1972 DeTomaso Pantera is one of approximately 1,258 examples produced for the model year and was delivered new to Hilltop Lincoln Mercury in St. Louis, Missouri. Originally finished in blue, the car was repainted black during previous ownership. Additional features include pop-up headlights, side marker lights, dual exterior mirrors, front and rear mesh grilles, painted rear bumper, and a polished quad-outlet exhaust.
DeTomaso-stamped Campagnolo 15″ wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich Radial T/A white letter tires measuring 205/60 up front and 255/60 out back. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes.
The cabin features seating upholstered in black vinyl with matching carpets and trim. Equipment includes power windows, seatbelts, aftermarket speakers, a Kenwood AM/FM Cassette stereo, and a gated shifter.
The three-spoke steering wheel fronts Veglia instrumentation that includes a 200-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 5,900-rpm redline, and gauges monitoring fuel level, coolant temperature, voltage, and oil pressure reside in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 24k miles, approximately 250 of which were added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.
The mid-mounted Ford-sourced 351ci Cleveland V8 was factory rated at 266 horsepower and 301 lb-ft of torque and features an electronic ignition, Hall Pantera radiator, and Holley 600 cfm carburetor.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a ZF five-speed manual transaxle. A McLeod clutch is said to have been installed.
