This 1963 Austin Mini Countryman is a left-hand-drive example that was built in February 1963 and delivered new to Paris, France, before reportedly being imported to the United States in the 1970s and subsequently acquired by the seller in 2016. The car was refurbished in 1988 under previous ownership when it was stripped and repainted in its current green and fitted with a replacement 1,275cc inline-four and a four-speed manual transmission from a donor car. Further work performed under current ownership including refinishing the roof and wood trim, reupholstering the front seats, and replacing the carpeting.
The car was factory finished in Almond Green and was repainted under previous ownership. The roof was subsequently stripped to repair rust damage and repainted in white under current ownership, and the ash wood trim was sanded and revarnished.
Steel 10″ wheels wear bright covers and are mounted with Kumho tires. Front disc brakes are fitted, and service under current ownership reportedly included replacement of the brake pads, front brake lines, and the master cylinder. A set of uninstalled period alloy wheels is included in the sale.
The cabin features black vinyl upholstery with body-color painted surfaces on the dashboard and door panels. Work in 2016 included refurbishment of the front seats, installation of sound insulation, and replacement of the carpeting and door panels.
The centrally mounted instrument cluster includes a 90-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges. The non-functional odometer shows 23k miles, and total mileage is unknown.
A replacement 1,275cc inline-four was installed under previous ownership. Work performed under current ownership included rebuilding the carburetors as well as replacement of the generator, voltage regulator, and fuel pump.
Power is sent to the front wheels through a replacement four-speed manual transaxle.
