The 1988 M6 featured revised bumpers with body-color corner trim as well as ellipsoid headlights, and this example was delivered from the factory in Zinnoberrot (Cinnabar Red, 138) and repainted in 2005. Features include an air dam with integrated fog lights, bright-finish trim, and a rear spoiler.
Gold-finished 16″ BBS wheels with polished lips are mounted with 225/50 Michelin Pilot XGT H4 tires. Bilstein shocks and replacement rear springs are fitted along with Dinan sway bars, and braking is handled by power-assisted four-wheel discs with an anti-lock system. The brake fluid was most recently flushed in 2019.
Lotus White leather covers the power-adjustable front seats as well as the lower dashboard panels, center console, rear seats, and side panels. Amenities include cruise control, air conditioning, a power sunroof, power windows, a Pioneer Bluetooth-capable stereo, and BMW-branded floor mats.
The leather-wrapped airbag steering wheel frames a 170-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The six-digit odometer shows 159k miles.
The rear center console provides air conditioning vents, controls, an ashtray, and beverage cooler.
The 3.5-liter S38 inline-six is modified with a Dinan engine management chip. A service by Phaedrus BMW Maintenance of San Francisco, California in October 2019 included a valve adjustment, a coolant flush, an oil change, and the replacement of the left marker socket and hood shocks.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential, and this example is fitted with a short-throw shifter kit and an aftermarket exhaust system.
Service records dating from 1991, manufacturer’s literature, and the factory tool kit are included in the sale.
