This 1986 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa was acquired by the seller in 1993 and has undergone a refurbishment that was completed in 2020. The car is finished in red over a two-tone tan upholstery and powered by a 3.2-liter flat-six paired with a 915 five-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes a removable black roof panel, staggered-width 16″ Fuchs wheels, fog lights, a 930S-style steering wheel, and a Blaupunkt Bremen AM/FM stereo. Refurbishment work is said to have consisted of repainting the car and refreshing the interior as well as replacing the windshield, bumpers, weatherstripping, and engine compartment insulation.
The car left the factory finished in Guards Red (G1), and the seller states the car was repainted as part of the refurbishment. Additional work is said to have included reupholstering the removable roof panel, applying paint protection film to the nose of the car, and replacing the following components:
Staggered-width 16″ Fuchs wheels feature replacement Porsche-crest center caps and are mounted with 205/55 front and 225/50 rear Toyo Extensa HP II tires. The car is equipped with a factory alarm system.
The interior is said to have been reupholstered in champagne with matching door panels and brown carpets. Amenities include air conditioning, electric windows, and Coco Mats as well as a Blaupunkt Bremen AM/FM stereo, aftermarket speakers, and a subwoofer mounted under the passener-side dash. The air conditioning temperature switch was replaced in preparation for the sale.
A 930S-style steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation that includes a central tachometer with a 6,300k-rpm redline, a 170-mph speedometer and an analog clock as well as gauges for fuel level, oil level, oil pressure, and oil temperature. The six-digit odometer shows 80k miles. The removed stock steering wheel will accompany the car.
The air-cooled 3.2L flat-six features Bosch Motronic engine management and was factory rated at 200 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque. The engine is said to have been removed and cleaned during the refurbishment, and replacement insulation was fitted to the firewall at that time. Service in July 2021 included replacement of the lower oil cooler hose.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 915/73 five-speed manual transaxle.
Documentation accompanying the car includes a Porsche Production Specifications certificate, manufacturer’s literature, and service records dating back to 1993. A tire compressor, two Colgan front end covers, two car covers, an Optima battery maintainer, and the removed steering wheel are also included in the sale.
