This 1963 Imperial Crown Southampton is a two-door hardtop coupe that was delivered new in Formal Black over black leather, powered by a 413ci V8 paired with a four-barrel carburetor and a three-speed automatic transmission. The car has been refinished, and features include tinted glass, 15″ wheels with covers, and an aftermarket stereo.
Imperial operated as its own marque under Chrysler from 1955 through 1983, and pillarless Imperials received the Southampton designation in the 1950s and ’60s. This two-door example was delivered new in Formal Black (B) and was refinished at some point according to the seller.
Black 15″ steel wheels wear chrome-finished covers with winged Imperial logos; the wheel covers are said to be from an earlier model. Nexen N’priz AH5 235/75 whitewall tires reportedly were mounted in mid-2018, and the brakes were serviced under current ownership.
The car came from the factory with a black leather (956) interior, which features bench seats with armrests and individual seatbacks front and rear. The door panels, rear trim, and carpeting are also black, contrasted by a white headliner.
A two-spoke steering wheel frames instrumentation that includes a horizontal 120-mph speedometer, a clock, and four auxiliary gauges. Shifting is handled via an array of push buttons situated to the left of the steering wheel. The five-digit odometer shows 65k miles.
The 413ci V8 was delivered new with a four-barrel carburetor and was rated at 340 horsepower. The engine received a replacement carburetor topped with an Edelbrock air cleaner, and the fuel tank also has been replaced.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. The seller notes that the transmission drips fluid and corrosion is present on exposed metal surfaces.
