This 1986 Chevrolet Corvette convertible was initially delivered to Buff Whelan Chevrolet in Sterling Heights, Michigan, and was reportedly purchased by the seller from its first owner in 1988. The car is finished in black with Graphite leather upholstery and powered by a 5.7-liter V8 paired with a Doug Nash “4+3″ manual transmission. Features include a black convertible top, 16” turbine-style wheels, pop-up headlights, power-adjustable seats, air conditioning, cruise control, an onboard computer, and a Delco-Bose sound system. Maintenance completed since 2019 is said to have included recharging the air conditioning system, replacing the battery, and changing the oil.
The body is finished in black (41U) and features a manually-operated black convertible top along with pop-up headlights, integrated fog lights, fender vents, and quad exhaust outlets.
Aluminum 16″ turbine-style wheels wear 255/50 Goodyear Eagle VR50 tires. Factory equipment includes power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes along with front and rear stabilizer bars.
The cabin features power-adjustable bucket seats upholstered in Graphite leather (122) with matching carpets as well as a black dashboard and door panels. Equipment includes air conditioning, cruise control, an onboard computer, a Delco-Bose sound system, and power windows, mirrors, and door locks.
The two-spoke steering wheel features a Corvette-logo horn button and fronts a digital instrument panel with an 85-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The six-digit mechanical odometer indicates just under 20k miles.
The 5.7-liter L98 V8 is equipped with Tuned Port Injection as well as aluminum cylinder heads and was factory rated at 235 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque. The battery was reportedly replaced in August 2020, and the oil was last changed in August 2021. The seller reports that an aftermarket ECU chip has been installed, and the removed chip is included in the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Doug Nash “4+3” manual transmission, which is a four-speed unit equipped with a pushbutton-activated electro-hydraulic overdrive in the top three gears.
