This 1991 BMW M5 is finished black over matching leather and is powered by a 3.5-liter inline-six paired with a five-speed manual transmission. The car was acquired by the current owner in 2001 and is equipped with a Dinan stage 1 suspension system, 17″ M-System wheels with turbine covers, tinted glass, a sunroof, an Alpine stereo with Bluetooth connectivity, power-adjustable seats, and dual-zone climate control. Service performed since 2020 has included replacement of the timing chain tensioner, valve cover gasket, and spark plugs.
The car is finished in Jet Black (668) and features a front air dam, fog lights, a sunroof, tinted windows, and polished exhaust outlets.
Factory 17″ M-System wheels show fading on their outer edges and are fitted with directional turbine-style covers. A set of “throwing star” covers is included in the sale. The car is equipped with a Dinan stage 1 suspension that consists of Koni red shocks and the removal of the SLS system.
The cabin is trimmed in black leather, and gray carpeting lines the floors and footwells. Features include an Alpine stereo with Bluetooth connectivity, power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone climate control, an aftermarket shift knob, and an onboard computer. The air-conditioning system was converted R134a refrigerant in June 2021, and the trunk shocks were replaced at the same time. The seller notes that the door panels show delamination and that the headliner is sagging above the rear headrests. The BMW cell-phone system and trunk-mounted CD changer are missing. A removed factory cassette stereo is included in the sale.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames instrumentation that includes a 180-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The digital odometer shows 125k miles.
The 3.5-liter S38B36 utilizes independent throttle bodies and was rated at 310 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque when new. Service in March 2020 included replacement of the valve cover gasket, timing chain tensioner, spark plugs, fuel filter, and air filter as well as a coolant flush and a valve clearance inspection. The battery was replaced in September 2020, and the oil was changed in June 2021.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.
A set of M-System “throwing star” covers will accompany the car.
