Description
This 1971 GMC 1500 is a green-over-tan short-bed pickup that was acquired by the current owner in 2020 and subsequently refurbished and modified. It is powered by a 5.3-liter Vortec V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission, and additional modifications include an adjustable air suspension, American Racing 17″ Torq Thrust wheels, Dakota Digital gauges, an aftermarket air-conditioning system, and LED tail lights. The exterior is finished in green and was sprayed with clearcoat following replacement of the rocker panels and corners of the cab. Wooden planks were fitted in the bed and a bedliner coating was applied by the seller, and additional equipment includes a replacement rear bumper, Western-style side mirrors, LED tail lights, and chrome trim.
American Racing 17″ Torq Thrust wheels are mounted with 255/50 Federal Super Steel 595 tires. The truck is modified with an adjustable air suspension that includes Dominator air springs, a Viair compressor, and a five-gallon air tank. Additional work performed during current ownership included servicing the front disc brakes and replacement of the suspension bushings, ball joints, and steering components.
The cabin was refurbished during current ownership and features a bench seat that was reupholstered in tan vinyl along with repainted door panels. Additional work included replacing the carpet, headliner, dashboard pad, seatbelts, door handles, and window crank handles. The ignition and door locks were rekeyed to match, a bedliner coating was applied to the floors, and additional amenities include a Vintage Air air-conditioning system and an aftermarket stereo with integrated speakers.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Dakota Digital instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for voltage, fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure, while additional gauges are mounted below the dashboard. The digital odometer indicates 5k miles. Total mileage is unknown.
The 5.3-liter Vortec V8 was reportedly sourced from a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe and is equipped with Speed Engineering ‘shorty’ headers, a Spectre air intake tube, and a custom engine cover. The fuel tank, fuel pump, and fuel lines were also replaced during current ownership.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a GM 4L80 four-speed automatic transmission.
