This 1995 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R is #17 of 250 built for the model year, and is finished in Crystal White and is powered by a modified 408ci V8 that is fitted with a Vortech supercharger and paired with a Halon Motorsport-built Tremec five-speed manual transmission and a Detroit Truetrac differential with 3.55:1 gears. All 1995 Cobra R models were equipped with Koni adjustable shocks, thicker sway bars, a larger radiator and oil cooler, and a fiberglass hood, and additional modifications include an MSD ignition system, a McLeod clutch kit, Flofit bucket seats, Simpson harnesses, auxiliary instruments, a full roll cage, and more as described below.
The Cobra R featured a redesigned front end with no fog lights as well as a raised cowl on the fiberglass hood in comparison to the standard model. The only color offered was Crystal White Clearcoat (ZR), and additional equipment includes tinted glass, a fixed rear spoiler, and dual exhaust outlets.
Model-specific 17″ wheels with Cobra-logo center caps are fitted with BFGoodrich g-Force T/A tires. Factory suspension upgrades over the standard Mustang included Koni adjustable shocks, progressive-rate springs, a front strut-tower brace, and larger-diameter stabilizer bars, and this example is equipped with Southside Machine Performance upper and lower control arms. Braking is handled by Cobra-branded calipers up front with vented discs at all four corners.
The cabin features manually adjustable Flofit bucket seats upholstered in gray cloth, a contrasting black upper dashboard top and door panels, and a tan lower dashboard, center console, and carpets. Simpson racing harnesses are attached to a bolt-in roll cage, and factory weight-saving measures included the omission of a rear seat, sound insulation, air conditioning, and audio system.
White-dial instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, voltage, and oil pressure. Aftermarket white gauges positioned on the dashboard-mounted display include fuel pressure and boost pressure gauges. The six-digit odometer shows 5,600 miles.
The Cobra R’s Windsor V8 has been modified with an increase in displacement to 408ci, and it is equipped with a Vortech supercharger. Addition modifications include the following:
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Hanlon Motorsport-built Tremec five-speed manual transmission, a LcLeod clutch kit, an FRPP aluminum driveshaft, and a Moser Engineering 31-spline rear axle equipped with a Detroit Truetrac differential and 3.55:1 gears. The car is also equipped with Dynomax mufflers and a stainless-steel exhaust system.
