A refurbishment completed in 2016 reportedly included rebuilding the carburetors and heater, performing paint and body work, fitting a stainless steel exhaust system, reupholstering the interior, and replacing the clutch, starter, alternator, distributor and more.
The bodywork was media-blasted, and the car was refinished in the original Harvest Gold over a six-year period ending in 2016. Brightwork, including chrome front and rear bumpers with overriders, dual rearview mirrors, and side trim, was replaced or polished.
Replacement 14″ 72-spoke wheels are fitted with chrome knock-off center caps and new splines and wears 185/70 Michelin Defender tires, along with a matching spare tire and wheel. The front calipers, rotors, pads, and lines were replaced rear drums, shoes and wheel cylinders were also replaced during the refurbishment along with the rear springs.
The cabin was retrimmed in black vinyl with color-matched carpets and rubber floor mats. The seller notes that the seat foam, webbing, headliner, and cargo area trim have been replaced. A radio blanking plate is fitted and the car features new retractable 3 point belts.
A three-spoke Moto-Lita steering wheel with a wood rim and an MG center cap fronts Smiths instrumentation. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 85k miles.
The 1.8-liter inline-four features twin SU carburetors from an earlier MG and is said to have been overhauled, bored over .030, and fitted with hardened valve seats, new valve guides, throttle shafts, oil pump, timing chain, and other components under prior ownership. The points and plugs have been replaced.
