The 3.2-liter flat-six utilizes Bosch fuel injection and was rated at 217 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque when new. An engine service by RennWerke Porsche of Elmsford, New York in 2021, reportedly included a valve adjustment, re-torquing the cylinder heads, re-sealing the rocker shafts, and replacement of the distributor cap and rotor.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a five-speed G50 manual transaxle with an optional limited-slip differential.
