This 2004 Land Rover Discovery II G4 Challenge is one of 200 examples produced to commemorate the 2003 G4 Challenge event, and it is finished in Tangiers Orange over black vinyl. Power comes from a 4.6-liter V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. A previous owner modified the truck with various RTE Fabrication off-road armor components, a suspension lift kit, Fox shocks, and swaybar quick disconnects, and it is also reported to have upgraded axles and differential gears. Amenities include a CD stereo, power front seats, cruise control, and front and rear sunroofs, and a Uniden CB radio. Maintenance during current ownership includes replacement of the cylinder head and valve cover gaskets.
The truck is finished in Tangiers Orange (761) with G4 decals and features front and rear sunroofs. Modifications include RTE Fabrication front and rear bumpers, rock sliders, and skid plates, and a Safety Devices roof rack. A Superwinch Husky 10 worm drive winch is mounted on the front bumper along with LED lighting. Additional front and rear LED lighting is mounted on the roof rack and an ARB awning extends from the passenger side of the roof.
Black-painted 16″ alloy wheels are fitted with 255/85 BF Goodrich Mud-Terrain T/A tires. The truck features a suspension lift and is fitted with Fox shocks, sway bar quick disconnects, and stainless steel brake lines. Both front shocks were rebuilt and the front sway bar was replaced in May 2021.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench seat upholstered in G4 Challenge Edition Black Mogul upholstery. Amenities include a Land-Rover branded AM/FM/CD stereo, power front seats, cruise control, and front and rear sunroofs as well as a Uniden CB radio.
The rear cabin holds an ARB refrigerator and a Power Tank air system with a mount and hoses.
A four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and coolant temperature and fuel level gauges. The six-digit digital odometer has 115k miles.
The 4.6-liter V8 was factory rated at 217 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque. The water pump, radiator, and fan were replaced under previous ownership, and the cylinder head and valve cover gaskets as well as an oxygen sensor were replaced in 2018 following the seller’s acquisition. The battery was replaced and the oil was changed in 2021.
Power is sent to all four wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The truck is said to have been modified with Tom Woods drive shafts, Ashcroft axles, and GBR gears with TruTrac lockers front and rear.
