This 1980 Plymouth Trail Duster is finished in two-tone Dark Brown Sunfire and Cashmere over Honey Plaid cloth upholstery, and it was acquired by the seller in 2016. Subsequent work included the installation of a Blueprint Engines 408ci V8, a rebuild of the LoadFlite three-speed automatic transmission, a refresh of the interior, repair of corrosion and replacement of the floor pans, and fitting a fuel-injection system, a 4″ lift kit from Rough Country, 15″ American Racing AR767 wheels, a Softopper soft top, a swing-out tire carrier, a custom exhaust system with a MagnaFlow muffler, and an Alpine stereo, amplifier, and speakers.
The body is finished in two-tone Dark Brown Sunfire and Cashmere paint, and according to the seller, portions of the floor pans were replaced, corrosion was removed from the tub, and the tub was treated with a factory-style undercoating by Tuba Trucks in Fayetteville, Arkansas in 2016. A Softopper soft top and custom-fabricated swing-out spare tire carrier were installed in 2017.
American Racing AR767 15″ wheels are finished in gloss black with red and blue stripes and are mounted with 32×11.5″ BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 tires. The truck is equipped with a Rough Country suspension lift kit.
The cabin features seating surfaces trimmed in Honey Plaid cloth in addition to a tan dashboard and door panels with wood-tone appliques. The seller states that the high-back Command front seats have been recovered, and equipment includes folding armrests, cruise control, a floor-mounted transfer case shifter, and an Alpine CD stereo, amplifier, and speakers.
The steering wheel is fitted with an aftermarket cover and frames an 85-mph speedometer, auxiliary gauges, a 4WD indicator light, and a Pro Tach 8k-rpm tachometer. The five-digit odometer is believed to have rolled over and now shows 8k miles. Total mileage is unknown.
The 408ci V8 is said to have been sourced from BluePrint Engines as a crate motor and installed by Dave Kelsey of Hobby Shop Auto Repair in Fayetteville, Arkansas. A replacement radiator and heater core were installed in 2017, and work in 2020 included replacement of ignition components and installation of an FiTech fuel-injection system. An HEI distributor was fitted in 2021, and the engine is also equipped with an aluminum intake manifold, Edelbrock valve covers, and tubular headers.
Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a three-speed LoadFlite automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The seller states that the transmission was rebuilt in 2016, and the torque converter was replaced in 2021. The custom exhaust system is equipped with a MagnaFlow muffler.
Manufacturer’s literature and a service manual are included in the sale.
