This 1974 MGB GT was first registered in California and was refurbished in Canada in 2015, and it relocated back to California following the seller’s acquisition in 2017. The refurbishment included refinishing the exterior in white and repair to the rear valance, while modifications include upgraded bucket seats trimmed in cloth, a Bell big-bore exhaust system, 14″ alloy wheels, a Weber carburetor, a Shadbolt camshaft, hardened valve seats, a custom intake, and an aluminum radiator. Power comes from a 1.8-liter inline-four mated to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive.
During the refurbishment in Canada, the exterior was stripped, sandblasted, and refinished in white following rust repair, removal of the bumpers, and repair to the rear valance. Various chrome components were refinished in black, including the headlight surrounds, front grille, and windshield trim.
Aftermarket 14″ alloy wheels wear a gold finish with polished lips and are mounted with Uniroyal Tiger Paw tires, while a matching spare wheel mounted to a Hankook white-stripe tire is located under the trunk floor. The brake lines and front and rear springs were reportedly replaced during the refurbishment.
The interior features bucket seats trimmed in black cloth with patterned inserts in addition to a padded dashboard, an aluminum center stack, and a center console with a wooden armrest. The carpeting and headliner were replaced during the refurbishment, and a Pyle stereo was fitted along with rear speakers, replacement dashboard switches, and a wooden shift knob. The seller reports that the turn signal stalk does not stay engaged.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 120-mph speedometer, 7k-rpm tachometer, and fuel level and coolant-temperature gauges, while the console is fitted with a voltage gauge and analog clock. The five-digit odometer shows 43k miles.
The 1.8L BMC B-series inline-four was modified during the refurbishment and features a Weber carburetor, a Shadbolt camshaft, stainless steel valves with hardened seats, a custom air intake system, and an aluminum radiator. The battery was reportedly replaced along with an oil change in April 2021.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. The fuel tank was replaced during the refurbishment and a Bell big-bore exhaust system was also fitted.
Service records from previous and current ownership are included in the sale.
