This 1995 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R is one of 250 examples produced for the model year, all of which were finished in Crystal White Clearcoat and powered by a 5.8-liter V8 paired with a five-speed manual transmission. Additional equipment includes a limited-slip differential, a rear spoiler, tinted windows, 17″ wheels, a sport-tuned suspension with adjustable Koni shocks, an aluminum radiator, an oil cooler, a Fuel Safe fuel cell with a high-capacity fuel pump, and Saddle cloth upholstery. The car was delivered new to Lombard Ford in Winsted, Connecticut, and it spent time in Washington State, Texas, and Arkansas before moving to Idaho when it was acquired by the seller in May 2017.
The Cobra R features a revised front valance and a raised hood cowl in comparison with the standard Mustang. Crystal White Clearcoat (ZR) was the only available color, and equipment includes a rear spoiler, tinted windows, and dual polished exhaust outlets.
The 17″ five-spoke wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich g-Force Sport tires, and a separate set of five-spoke wheels is included in the sale. The car was equipped from the factory with anti-lock brakes and an SVT-tuned suspension consisting of adjustable Koni dampers, progressive-rate springs, a front strut-tower brace, and strengthened stabilizer bars.
The cabin features seats trimmed in Saddle cloth, matching carpets and Cobra-branded floor mats, and black dashboard and door-panel accents. Equipment includes four-way power adjustment for the driver’s seat, hand-crank windows, and power-adjustable side mirrors. The Cobra R was not equipped with rear seats, and additional weight-saving measures included the omission of air conditioning, an audio system, and sound insulation.
White-dial instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, voltage, and oil pressure. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows approximately 14k miles.
The 5.8-liter V8 was shared with the contemporary F-150 SVT Lightning and features an aluminum radiator, an oil cooler, and a higher-capacity fuel pump. Factory-rated output was 300 horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque when new. A Glens Performance gas tank has been added, and the removed 20-gallon fuel cell is included in the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Tremec five-speed manual transmission and a Traction-Lok limited-slip differential.
The window sticker lists standard and optional equipment, initial delivery to Lombard Ford in Winsted, Connecticut, and a total vehicle price of $35,499.
The Ford-SVT certificate lists a build date of March 1, 1995 and identifies this car as #60 of the 250 Cobra R examples produced for the model year.
Factory books and manuals are included in the sale. A “Gold” trophy awarded to the car at the 2018 MCA Mustang National Show in Lincoln, Nebraska.
