This 1937-style Ford convertible street rod was built using a Gibbon Fiberglass Reproductions body on a custom chassis, and it was acquired by the current owner out of South Dakota in 2018. Finished in white over beige leatherette upholstery with a tan soft top, the car is powered by a 350ci V8 Chevrolet crate engine for which a replacement fuel pump was installed in preparation for the sale. Additional equipment includes a three-speed automatic transmission, an Edelbrock carburetor, air conditioning, a Pioneer CD stereo, and Boyd Coddington wheels as well as power steering, brakes, seats, windows, and locks.
The car’s fiberglass body, doors, and trunk lid are complemented by a steel hood, grille, running boards, and fenders, all of which are finished in Vanilla Pearl paint with a tan folding top and an interior-matching boot cover. Additional features include a Briz ribbed-alloy front bumper, dual side mirrors, and power- and fuel-cutoff switches located beneath the edge of the body at the rear.
Polished-aluminum Boyd Coddington wheels measure 15″ with BFGoodrich Touring T/A tires up front and 17″ with Dunlop SP Sport 4000 A/S tires out back. Braking is provided by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.
The cockpit features a bench seat trimmed in beige leatherette fabric with matching door panels and carpeting. Amenities include power seats, power windows, and power locks with remote keyless entry along with Vintage Air climate control, a Lokar floor shifter, a center armrest, and a Pioneer CD stereo.
A leather-wrapped Lecarra steering wheel sits atop a tilting column and fronts a body-color steel dashboard that houses Dolphin instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer and a four-in-one combination gauge. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows 7k miles.
The GM-sourced 350ci ZZ4 V8 crate engine is equipped with aluminum cylinder heads, a dual-plane intake manifold, an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, an HEI distributor, and headers flowing into a dual exhaust system. The battery is concealed in a box located in the finished trunk. The fuel pump was replaced in April 2021. A $3,026 invoice from Tiremax of Summerfield, North Carolina shows that a partial engine rebuild in August 2020 included machine work along with the installation of PBM pushrods and rocker studs, a pushrod guide plate, and Melling valve lifters.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a Turbo-Hydramatic three-speed automatic transmission.
