This 1947 Chevrolet truck was acquired out of Texas by Tonka and underwent a custom refurbishment conducted to commemorate the toy manufacturer’s 70th anniversary. Completed in October 2016 by Dave’s Garage of Simi Valley, California, the truck was subsequently exhibited at the 2016 SEMA show in Las Vegas, Nevada. The build features a five-window cab finished in red and white and mounted over a TCI Engineering chassis, and power is supplied by a Cummins 6.7-liter turbodiesel inline-six paired with a five-speed manual transmission. Additional features include a wood-planked flatbed, front and rear coilover suspension along with four-wheel disc brakes, artillery-style aluminum wheels, chrome exhaust stacks, two-tone leather upholstery, powered windows, a Kenwood CD stereo, and a Vintage Air air-conditioning system.
The five-window cab is mounted on a TCI Engineering chassis, and it is finished in two-tone red and white. Additional features include a windshield visor, LED headlights, and chrome exhaust stacks as well as a lockable storage compartment and a bed-mounted unit housing a trio of batteries and a 600-watt pure sine inverter.
The flatbed features stained wood slats with polished cargo runners. A set of matching bed stakes are included in the sale.
Wheel Smiths artillery-style aluminum wheels measure 18″ in diameter, and they wear wide whitewall tires. A set of hubcaps are included in the sale. Braking is form four-wheel disc brakes, the truck rides on Eibach and Bulletproof suspension components.
The cab features red and tan leather-upholstered bucket seats with matching treatments for the door panels and center console. Equipment includes an air-conditioning system sourced from Vintage Air, power-operated windows, a Kenwood stereo, and a centralized storage cubby.
A banjo-style steering wheel fronts LMC-supplied instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer and readings for voltage, fuel level, oil pressure, and temperature. The digital odometer displays 683 miles, and actual mileage is unknown.
The 6.7-liter turbodiesel inline-six was supplied by Cummins and features a variable-geometry turbocharger as well as a direct fuel injection system equipped with a high-pressure common rail. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission.
