This 1948 Willys-Overland Jeep Model 4T pickup was purchased by the seller’s father in Kelowna, British Columbia, in 1948, and it was refurbished between 1999 and 2002 after the seller took possession of the truck. It was refinished in gray, and additional refurbishment work included rebuilding the 134ci inline-four, refreshing the interior with dark red vinyl upholstery, replacing the windshield and seals, and rebuilding the carburetor, radiator, front hubs, generator, and starter. Equipment includes a three-speed manual transmission paired with a Spicer transfer case, a chrome front bumper, red-finished 16″ steel wheels, and a cabin heater.
The pickup bed and hood were straightened and the body was repainted in gray during the refurbishment commissioned by the seller between 1999 and 2002. Additional work included the installation of refurbished windshield wiper arms as well as the replacement of the fender well piping, rear bumper, side mirror glass, signal lenses, and windshield and seals. Exterior equipment includes a chrome front bumper, a body-color front grille, and dual taillights.
Red-finished 16″ steel wheels wear Specialty Tires of America 7.00-16LT tires, and a matching spare is mounted to the driver’s bedside. The front wheel hubs were reportedly rebuilt during the refurbishment, and the brakes were bled in 2018.
The cabin features body-color sheet metal along with a reupholstered dark red vinyl bench seat, headliner, and sun visors. A replacement dark red rubber mat lines the floor, and equipment includes manual-crank windows, a glovebox, and a cabin heater.
Instrumentation consists of an 80-mph speedometer and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, amperage, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 9k miles and is believed to have rolled over. Total mileage is unknown. The seller has added approximately 500 miles since completion of the refurbishment in 2002.
The 134ci Go-Devil inline-four is equipped with an oil-bath air cleaner and produced 60 horsepower and 105 lb-ft of torque when new. The engine was reportedly rebuilt during the refurbishment with a machined and rebuilt cylinder head and replacement pistons and sleeves. Additional work reportedly included replacing the spark plugs, wires, and fan belt as well as refurbishing the radiator and rebuilding the fuel vacuum pump, carburetor, six-volt generator, and starter. An oil change was last performed in 2018 according to the seller.
Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a three-speed manual transmission and a Spicer transfer case.
