This 1957 Ford Thunderbird is finished in Azure Blue over two-tone blue vinyl upholstery and is powered by a 312ci V8 backed by a three-speed automatic transmission. Originally sold in Pasadena California, the seller purchased the car in 1977 after a restoration in 1975 that was documented in the 1975 issue of Thunderbird Illustrated magazine. Equipment includes a color-matched hardtop, chrome trim, a Town and Country radio, rear fender skirts, and whitewall tires.
Finished in Azure Blue (L), this Thunderbird was repainted in its factory color in 1975. Equipment includes a color-matched porthole hardtop, rear wheel spats, a hood scoop, a driver-side mirror, and chrome bumpers. The 1957 Thunderbird featured several cosmetic revisions for the model year, including a reshaped grille and larger tail fins and taillights.
Color-matched 14″ steel wheels are fitted with chrome Ford hubcaps and 205/75 American Classic Whitewall tires. A matching spare is located in the trunk. Stopping power is provided by factory Swift-Sure power brakes. The seller notes that a 2018 service included installing replacement tires and front wheel bearings, and a replacement power brake booster was installed in May 2021.
The cabin is trimmed in two-tone Blue (XL) upholstery and is accompanied by matching two-tone door panels and a dashboard with engine-turned metal trim. Equipment includes lap belts, a Town and Country radio, and the blue carpets are protected with Thunderbird-branded rubber floor mats.
The instrument cluster houses a 140-mph speedometer, a 5k-rpm tachometer, and a clock as well as gauges for fuel level, and water temperature. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 31k miles.
The 312ci Y-block V8 is equipped with a four-barrel carburetor and was rated at 245 horsepower when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission. A PerTronix electronic ignition has been installed, and the removed factory parts are included in the sale. The spark plugs, ignition coil, and battery were reportedly replaced in 2018 and, the oil was changed in preparation for sale.
The original gate release, manufacturer’s literature, shop manuals, service records, and a 1975 issue of Thunderbird Illustrated magazine are included in the sale as well as correspondence from Classic Thunderbird International.
