This 1957 Ford Thunderbird reportedly spent much of its life in California before being brought to Colorado approximately eight years ago by the seller. The car is finished in Willow Green over two-tone green vinyl, and power is provided by a 312ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a white fiberglass hardtop with porthole windows, an AM radio, power-assisted front disc brakes, Flaming River rack and pinion steering, and removable fender skirts. The engine and transmission were overhauled in 2015 and additional work carried out during current ownership included refreshing the interior, installing an electric wiper motor, and replacing the wiring harness, fuel tank, brake components, and more. This Thunderbird is now offered with service records from current ownership, uninstalled factory equipment, spare parts, and a clean Colorado title in the seller’s name.
The exterior was finished from the factory in Willow Green (J) and is said to have been repainted during previous ownership. Features include a white fiberglass hardtop with porthole windows, a hood scoop, faux fender louvers, and dual exhaust outlets integrated into the rear bumper. Rear fender skirts with chrome rock guards and black California license plates are included in the sale. The seller states that the soft top requires refurbishment.
Body-colored 14″ steel wheels wear replacement covers and are wrapped in 205/75 Coker Classic wide whitewall tires. Flaming River rack and pinion steering and SSBC power-assisted front disc brakes were added during current ownership. The brake lines, wheel cylinders, and brake shoes have been replaced per the seller.
The bench seat was fitted with replacement padding and reupholstered in Cumberland Green with pleated Willow Green vinyl inserts. Engine-turned aluminum trim aLents the dash and door panels, and amenities include a heater, a push-button AM radio, a floor-mounted shifter, and polished door sill plates.
A three-spoke steering wheel frames a 140-mph speedometer and a five-digit odometer that indicates 90 miles. Less than 500 miles have been added by the seller over the last eight years, though total mileage is unknown.
The 312ci V8 was rebuilt by ALeleration Engineering of Glenwood Springs, Colorado in May 2015, and work included replacement of the valves, guides, and springs, reconditioning the connecting rods, and boring and honing the cylinders. The four-barrel carburetor was rebuilt in 2014, and additional service during current ownership is said to have included replacement of the wiring harness along with the fuel tank and lines.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a three-speed Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission, which was rebuilt in May 2015.
