This 1961 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II is a left-hand-drive four-door sedan that was delivered new to California and acquired by the current owner approximately six years ago. Finished in dark blue over gray leather upholstery, the car is powered by a 6.2-liter V8 paired with a Hydra-Matic four-speed automatic transmission. Additional equipment includes a push-button radio, rear seat trays, and steel wheels with polished and painted covers. Work during current ownership has included an overhaul of the brakes along with replacement of the headliner and carpets.
The J. P. Blatchley-designed body was manufactured by the Pressed Steel Company and features an aluminum-alloy hood, doors, and trunk lid. This example was factory finished in Midnight Blue and is said to have undergone paint correction during current ownership. Exterior features include a Sprit of Ecstasy hood ornament, a retractable antenna, chrome driver’s side mirror, and twin front driving lamps.
The 15” steel wheels feature polished covers with body-color accents and are mounted with Suretrac Power Touring whitewall tires that were installed in 2019. Additional work that year as part of a $14k service performed by Steve Aiello of Monroe, New York included rebuilding the brake servo and replacing the brake master cylinders, wheel cylinders, and hoses.
The cabin features seats trimmed in gray leather with matching door panels. The headliner and carpets are said to have been recently replaced, and amenities include a push-button radio, a locking glovebox, central armrests, electric windows, and tray tables for rear-seat passengers. The seller reports that the leather has been re-dyed in areas and the woodgrain trim has been refinished.
A black three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a woodgrain dashboard housing instrumentation that includes a reverse-sweep 120-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and a combination gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 43k miles.
The overhead-valve 6.2-liter V8 sends power to the rear wheels through a GM Hydra-Matic four-speed automatic transmission. A stainless-steel exhaust system was installed in 2019 by Steve Aiello of Monroe, New York. Additional work at that time included an engine tune up, fluid changes of the transmission and differential, and boiling the radiator.
