This 1962 Austin-Healey 3000 is a four-place BT7 Mk II roadster powered by a triple-carbureted and overbored 2.9L inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. It is said to have remained in the care of a single owner between 1969 and 2019, at which time it was purchased by the seller. The car is finished in Old English White over red leather, and features include a black convertible top and boot, black-finished 15″ wire wheels, an electric fuel pump, a stainless-steel exhaust system, and a stainless-steel radiator with an electric cooling fan.
The car was refinished in Old English White during a refurbishment completed under prior ownership and features a black convertible top, a matching top boot, a flat windscreen, fender-mounted mirrors, and chrome bumpers and trim.
Black-finished 15″ wire-spoke wheels have two-ear knock-off centers and were mounted with 185/70 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires in 2020. A full-size spare wheel with a Nexen tire is mounted in the trunk. The front suspension was overhauled in 2012.
The cabin features bucket seats trimmed in red leather with white piping as well as a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets, the latter of which cover Dynamat sound insulation. The rear-view mirror and a passenger grab-rail are mounted to the dashboard, and other equipment includes red seatbelts, embroidered floor mats, and a banjo-style steering wheel.
Smiths instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 28k miles.
The 2.9-liter inline-six was rebuilt and bored .040″ over in 2012 by British Car Specialists of Stockton, California, with new pistons, bearings, and a lightweight flywheel added at that time. It is fitted with a trio of SU carburetors and modified with an electric fuel pump. An aluminum radiator and six-blade thermostatically controlled fan were installed in 2020.
Power is transferred to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive.
The sale includes literature, manuals, service records, and invoices from a refurbishment under previous ownership.
