This 1962 Lincoln Continental convertible was purchased by the seller’s family in October 1963 from Berkeley Motors in Berkeley, California and acquired by the seller in 1999. The car is finished in Riviera Turquoise over a matching interior, and power is supplied by a 430ci V8 mated with a dual-range three-speed automatic transmission. Additional equipment includes a white convertible top, 15” wheels, rear-hinged rear doors, an automatic-dimming headlights system, a six-way power-adjustable bench seat, and an AM radio.
The car was repainted in its factory shade of Riviera Turquoise (D) around 40 years ago, and a dent in a right quarter panel was repaired at that time. Exterior details include a white convertible top, a hood ornament, a driver-side mirror, and rear-hinged rear doors. The convertible top mechanism was rebuilt in 1999, and the rear bumper was re-chromed last year.
Replacement steel 15” wheels and covers from a later-model Continental are mounted with 225/75 Yokohama Aegis LS4 whitewall tires. The steering gearbox was adjusted in January 2021, and the factory 14” wheel covers are included in the sale.
The interior was reupholstered in turquoise vinyl and features matching door panels accented with wood trim. Amenities include a six-way power-adjustable front bench seat, an AM radio, an automatic headlight dimming system, and Mercury floor mats.
A wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel fronts a horizontal 120-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and a combination gauge that displays readouts for engine temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 81k miles.
The front-hinged hood opens to reveal a 430ci V8 that is fitted with a two-barrel carburetor and was factory rated at 300 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. An oil change was performed and the engine mounts replaced in January 2021. A new battery was installed in preparation of the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a dual-range three-speed automatic transmission. Areas of corrosion are reported on the exhaust system and underbody components.
