This 1963 Porsche 356B Super 90 Coupe was completed on December 13, 1962 and underwent a refurbishment between 1999 and 2012. Work included a repaint in the factory shade of Champagne Yellow, a reupholstered interior, and the installation of a replacement 1.6-liter flat-four, which is paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. The car was brought to California from Oregon following the current owner’s acquisition approximately eight years ago, and additional features include a push-button AM/FM radio with an auxiliary input, a chrome rear luggage rack, a 12-volt electrical conversion, an analog clock, and polished 15” steel wheels with hubcaps.
The Karmann-built bodywork was refinished in its factory shade of Champagne Yellow (6205) during the refurbishment under previous ownership. The glass has been replaced, along with door and window seals, exterior gaskets, and weatherstripping. Equipment includes a chrome rear luggage rack and beltline trim, a retractable antenna, and body-colored bumpers with polished overriders.
Polished 15” steel wheels with chrome hubcaps are mounted with 165/80 Kumho Power Star 758 tires, and stopping power is provided by finned drums at all four corners. A dual circuit master cylinder was installed in 2020, along with new brake shoes, hoses, and wheel cylinders.
The seats have been reupholstered in black vinyl, and the cabin has been fitted with a matching replacement dash pad, door panels, and gray square-weave carpets. Amenities include a VDO analog clock, a locking glovebox, opening front 3/4 vent windows, and a push-button AM/FM radio with an auxiliary input wired to speakers housed in both kick panels.
A three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a body-colored metal dashboard housing VDO instrumentation that includes a central 6k-rpm tachometer, along with a 120-mph speedometer and combination gauge that were repaired by Palo Alto Speedometer. The five-digit odometer shows just under 66k miles.
The replacement 1.6-liter flat-four was originally fitted in a 1963 356 1600S and was overhauled in 2009 by Dan Hall’s Automotive Machine of Portland, Oregon. The electrical system has been converted to 12-volts per the seller.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle. A replacement differential was installed by German Transaxle of America of Big Bend, Oregon in 2009.
