This 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS Sport Coupe was acquired by the current owner’s uncle in the late 1990s, at which point it was refinished in red over black. This 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS Sport Coupe was acquired by the current owner’s uncle in the late 1990s, at which point it was refinished in red over black. Power comes from a 327ci V8, and a Muncie four-speed manual transmission was installed during the refurbishment. The black interior features a full-length console, tachometer, an auxiliary gauge pod, and a retro-style radio. Other equipment includes Rally wheels, power-assisted brakes with front discs, QA1 shocks, and a four-barrel carburetor. The current owner acquired the car from his uncle in 2016, and the oil was changed in summer 2021.
The car was delivered new in Palomar Red (948) and was finished in a lighter red red in the late 1990s. Features include chrome-finished bumpers and trim as well as engine-turned side moldings.
Gray-finished Rally wheels wear Chevy-branded hubcaps and beauty rings. The wheels are mounted with Dunlop GT Qualifier tires, and the braking system has been modified with a booster as well as discs up front. QA1 shocks also have been installed, and the seller notes a leak from the power-steering system.
The interior received black vinyl upholstery (815) from the factory, and the front bucket seats and rear bench are covered in black vinyl, with matching door panels and carpeting. Engine-turned trim accents the armrest console, and other equipment includes a Hurst shifter, all-season floor mats, and a retro-style stereo.
A two-spoke steering wheel fronts instrumentation that includes a horizontal 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges including an Autogage pod mounted under the dash. The mechanical odometer shows 19k miles, and the speedometer is inoperable, as are the windshield wipers and the fuel gauge. True mileage is unknown.
The seller states that the 327ci V8 is equipped with an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor and Performer-series intake manifold as well as a Crane Cams camshaft, Corvette cylinder heads, MSD ignition, Westar engine mounts, and a stainless-steel exhaust system. The oil was changed in summer 2021 by JE Robison Service of Springfield, Massachusetts, and the seller notes that the alternator is not charging.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a Muncie four-speed manual transmission that was installed during the refurbishment. The seller notes that the rear differential has a 3.50:1 final-drive ratio and the power steering leaks.
