This 1965 Chevrolet Malibu Sport Coupe is powered by a 396ci V8 fitted with aluminum cylinder heads and mated to a five-speed manual transmission and is finished in orange over a black vinyl interior. Additional modifications include Hedman headers, a Holley carburetor, an Edelbrock intake manifold, MSD ignition, KYB shocks, Flowmaster mufflers, staggered-width 15″ wheels, power-assisted front disc brakes, and a power steering conversion.
Blemishes, including orange peel, touch-ups, and other flaws, are noted in the finish. Exterior features include a cowl induction hood, dual side mirrors, and chrome bumpers and rocker moldings.
Black-finished 15” steel wheels wear polished Chevrolet hubcaps and are mounted with Kumho Power Star 758 tires that measure 165/80 up front and 255/60 out back. Power-assisted steering and front disc brakes have been retrofitted, and KYB coil springs and shocks have also been added.
The interior is said to have been reupholstered in 2017 and is trimmed in black vinyl with matching door panels and carpets. Amenities include Chevelle-branded floor mats, a locking glove compartment, lap belts, a push-button radio, and a Hurst shifter.
The two-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer and a Bosch 8k-rpm tachometer that is mounted to the steering column. An auxiliary three-gauge pod has been added below the dash. The five-digit odometer shows 18k miles, approximately 3k of which were added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.
The 396ci V8 was installed under prior ownership and is reportedly fitted with 427ci aluminum cylinder heads. Additional equipment includes an Edelbrock intake manifold, a Holley carburetor, a 100-amp alternator, an MSD distributor, and a replacement mechanical water pump.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed Borg Warner T5 manual transmission with a replacement clutch and a Positraction rear axle with 3.73:1 gearing. Hedman headers feed a dual exhaust system with an H-pipe and Flowmaster mufflers.
