This 1965 Ford Mustang fastback was purchased new from Fellini-Mayfield Ford of Springfield, Missouri and was recently acquired by the seller. It is finished in red with white stripes over a black interior and is powered by a replacement 289ci V8 mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes GT350-style badging, a Holley carburetor, PerTronix ignition, an aluminum radiator with a six-blade cooling fan, front disc brakes, Rally-Pac gauges, Flowmaster mufflers, hood pins, a Clarion cassette radio, and a Hurst shifter.
Originally finished in Wimbledon White, the car was repainted red with white center stripes under previous ownership. GT350-style lower body stripes and badging have also been added, and additional details include hood and side scoops, dual exhaust outlets exiting through the rear valance, bullet-style side mirrors, and hood pins.
GT6-style 14” alloy wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich Radial T/A white-letter tires. A front disc brake conversion kit with dual master cylinders has been installed. The car received a brake adjustment, replacement shocks, and a front-end alignment under current ownership.
The interior features front bucket seats and a split-folding bench that are trimmed in black vinyl. Appointments include a center console, a Clarion cassette radio, a Hurst shifter, Mustang-branded carpeted floor mats, Shelby American door sill trim, and a heater/defroster.
A wood-rimmed steering wheel with a Cobra center cap fronts replacement Rally-Pac instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 16k miles.
The replacement 289ci V8 is fitted with a Holley four-barrel carburetor, Cobra-branded valve covers and oil pan, a Flowkooler high-flow water pump, an aluminum radiator, a six-blade cooling fan, Flowmaster mufflers, and PerTronix ignition. A 1967-style battery tray has been added, and service completed under current ownership included oil and coolant changes along with replacement of the water pump, ignition and speedometer cables, belts, thermostat, header gasket, and radiator hoses.
A four-speed manual transmission and 3.50:1 rear end were installed in place of the factory three-speed manual transmission and 2.80:1 rear axle during prior ownership. Fluid changes were performed by the seller.
