This 1965 Lincoln Continental convertible is finished in Platinum over white leather and is powered by a 430ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. The car was acquired by the seller in 2008 and subsequently refurbished with work consisting of a repaint, servicing the convertible top, reupholstering the interior, rechroming the trim, and rebuilding the suspension, brakes, engine, and transmission. Equipment includes a power-operated white convertible top, air conditioning, a power antenna, an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, PerTronix electronic ignition, a rebuilt AM/FM radio, power windows and locks, power-adjustable front seats, and rear-hinged coach doors.
The car was delivered new in Platinum (N) and was refinished in 2012 at Graveyard Classics in Hollywood, Florida. Features include a power-operated white convertible top, quad headlights, chrome bumpers, bright lower bodyside moldings, and rear-hinged coach doors. The seller notes that during the refurbishment the trim and bumpers were refinished and polished, and the convertible top canvas, cylinders, lines, and motor were replaced.
Steel 15″ wheels wear polished Continental covers and are mounted with whitewall tires. Braking is provided by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. The suspension was rebuilt with replacement bushings, shock absorbers, tie rods, and ball joints, and the master cylinder, brake pads, shoes, wheel cylinders, and calipers were replaced.
The power-operated soft top retracts into the trunk, which is opened automatically by hydraulic cylinders. The top can be controlled by a switch on the dashboard or an electronic remote.
The cabin features bench seating reupholstered in white leather with matching door panels. Equipment includes air conditioning, power steering, a tilt steering column, a rebuilt AM/FM radio, an analog clock, lap belts, power-adjustable front seats, and power windows. The clock, audio system, air conditioning, vacuum systems, switches, and window systems were repaired at Lincoln Land of Clearwater, Florida.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a horizontal 120-mph speedometer, four auxiliary gauges, and a clock on the passenger side of the dash. The five-digit odometer shows 68k miles.
The 430ci V8 is fitted with an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, PerTronix electronic ignition, and was factory rated at 320 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. A fluid service, electronic ignition install, carburetor rebuild, and fuel line, fuel filter, and fuel pump replacement were completed in 2021 at Bob’s Custom Auto in Pompano Beach, Florida. The engine is said to have been refurbished during current ownership.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. The transmission was reconditioned, and the torque converter was rebuilt at Gold Coast Transmissions of Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 2008.
