This 1966 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III is finished in British Racing Green over a black interior and powered by a replacement 2.6-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Equipment includes a black soft top, chrome 15″ knock-off wire wheels, and an AM/FM radio. The car spent time in Michigan before being acquired by the seller in 2010 and relocated to South Carolina. The car was finished from the factory in British Racing Green and received a repaint in 2013. Features include a black soft top with a matching boot, chrome bumpers with overriders, vent windows, and a dual-exit exhaust. The seller states that the soft top seal needs adjustment and reports that rust is present around the rear doglegs as well as in the floors. The seller reports that all signal and brake lights function properly.
Chrome 15″ knock-off wire wheels were sourced by the seller from Dayton Wire Wheel and are wrapped in Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. The wheels and tires were trued and balanced by Hendrix Wire Wheel in 2013 and again in 2017. The front suspension and brakes are said to have been overhauled in 2014.
The 2+2 cockpit features black seats with gold piping along with gray carpets and burl wood dash veneers. Amenities include a heater, lap belts for front oLupants, and an AM/FM radio. The seller states that the door panels are poorly secured and the driver’s window will periodically lower a few inches on its own. Other noted issues include cracks in the dash veneers and an inoperable radio speaker.
A banjo-style steering wheel with a cracked rim frames a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and a five-digit odometer displaying 43k miles. Secondary gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature are mounted to the left of the driver.
The 2.6-liter inline-six was reportedly sourced from an Austin Healey 100-6 and installed under previous ownership. The clutch was replaced and the engine oil and transmission fluid were changed in February 2021.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive.
