This 1966 Austin Mini Super Deluxe is a right-hand-drive Mark 1 example that is said to have remained with the family of its original owner in England before it was acquired by the seller in 2005 and imported to the US. It subsequently underwent a repaint in California in the mid-2000s and is finished in maroon over a two-tone grey interior. Power is supplied by a 1,293cc inline-four reportedly rebuilt with a Kent camshaft, a Maniflow header, and RC40 exhaust, and additional equipment includes a four-speed manual transaxle, a black folding sunroof, ventilated front disc brakes, Superfin rear drum brakes, KYB gas shocks, fender flares, Newton Commercial seats, Sparco pedals, and an aftermarket stereo.
The car was repainted approximately 15 years ago by Santana’s Auto Body of Ontario, California following replacement of the doors and rear valance. Rust repair was also performed at that time, and the front windshield and antenna were replaced. A black folding sunroof was installed by Jack Kent Limited in London, England, while Wood & Pickett-style fender flares were installed in 2019.
Black-finished 10” Mamba wheels are mounted with 165/70 Yokohama Advan tires. The car is fitted with KYB gas shocks and a hi/lo suspension setup. Braking is handled by 7.9″ Mini Sport ventilated front disc brakes, Superfin rear drums, and stainless-steel brake lines. The brake pads and shoes were replaced in 2019, and additional components replaced during current ownership include the brake master cylinder, CV boots, rack and pinion steering, and the wheel bearings.
The right-hand-drive cabin houses high-back reclining front bucket seats finished in leather and a rear bench that were sourced from Newton Commercial and are trimmed in two-tone grey with red piping. The interior panels, headliner, and sun visors were also replaced, while the floor pans were painted with Zolatone and fitted with Dynamat sound insulation and a replacement carpet kit. Additional appointments include Sparco pedals, a Sony head unit, Kenwood rear speakers, a leather shift boot, and custom floor mats. A standard ignition tumbler was installed in place of the push-button starter solenoid.
A leather-wrapped aftermarket steering wheel fronts a burled wood dash panel housing Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 95-mph speedometer with an inset fuel gauge, an engine temperature gauge, and an oil pressure gauge, while a 7k-rpm tachometer from an MGB has been added below the dash. The five-digit odometer is inoperable and shows 21k miles, though total mileage is unknown.
The inline-four was reportedly built using an A+ block from a 1989 MG Metro and was increased in displacement to 1,293cc by Bender’s Automotive of Covina, California. The cylinder head and manifold are said to have been ported and polished, and additional engine components reportedly include the following:
A valve adjustment was performed in October 2021 and the wiring harness has been replaced per the seller
Power is sent to the front wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle.
