This 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu coupe was acquired by the seller in 2014 as a rolling project and has since been modified with a 6.0-liter LS2 V8 and a 4L65E four-speed automatic transmission. This 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu coupe was acquired by the seller in 2014 as a rolling project and has since been modified with a 6.0-liter LS2 V8 and a 4L65E four-speed automatic transmission. Additional modifications include a 3.55 Positraction rear end, four-wheel disc brakes, 18″ Chip Foose wheels, a cowl induction hood, and aftermarket control arms. The car was repainted metallic gray and the interior features black vinyl and suede seats, Vintage Air GenIV air conditioning, Dakota Digital gauges, and a hidden Bluetooth-enabled stereo system.
The body was removed from the frame, repainted in a Peterbilt shade of metallic gray, and fitted with a replacement front grille, headlight bezels, door handles, bumpers, glass, and vent window weatherstripping. The badging and emblems have been deleted, and additional features include a cowl induction hood, LED headlights, and a driver’s side chrome mirror.
Chip Foose 18″ wheels wear staggered-width Nitto Invo tires that measure 205/35 up front and 275/35 out back and show date codes from 2014 and 2015. Braking, suspension, and steering modifications are said to include the following components:
- Corvette-sourced front disc brakes with cross-drilled rotors
- Camaro-sourced rear disc brakes with cross-drilled rotors
- Wilwood power brake booster
- Front brake line lock
- Adjustable upper front tubular control arms
- CurrieTrac rear control arms
- Aftermarket sway bars
- Steering box sourced from a Jeep Cherokee
- Replacement tie rods and ball joints
The seats and door panels were reupholstered in black vinyl and suede using an interior kit from TMI Products. Additional features include a body-colored dashboard, Vintage Air GenIV air conditioning system, a center console, a push-button starter, aftermarket sound deadening, black floor mats, and a hidden Bluetooth-enabled stereo system. The door handles and window cranks are replacement items aLording to the seller.
A leather-wrapped aftermarket steering wheel fronts Dakota Digital gauges including an analog 160-mph speedometer, 8k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, engine temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The digital odometer shows 3k miles, though total mileage is unknown.
The 6.0-liter LS2 V8 was reportedly sourced from a 2005 Pontiac GTO with 15k miles and was factory rated at 400 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. The build is said to have included installation of the following components:
- Custom body-colored air intake
- Tube-style headers with a crossover pipe and dual exhaust
- Aluminum radiator
- Twin Derale electric cooling fans,
- Hidden replacement wiring harness
- Smoothed firewall
- Aftermarket engine mounts
The 4L65E four-speed automatic transmission was reportedly sourced from the donor 2005 GTO and has been fitted with a shift kit. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Positraction rear differential with 3.55:1 gears and TEN Factory axle shafts.
