This 1966 Mercedes-Benz 230SL is finished in white over black and is powered by a replacement 2.3-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. The car was refinished in the original Papyrus White (717) during current ownership. Features include a matching removable hardtop, chrome trim and bumpers, and twin exhaust finishers. The left fender, headlight, and front grille insert are said to have been damaged at a car wash. Subsequent repairs reportedly included refinishing the fender, replacing the grille insert, and installing European-style headlights. The convertible top is missing, and flaws include a paint drip on the right quarter panel, a dent in the right-rear bumper, and chipping paint on the right fender and hardtop.
14″ steel wheels wear body-color hubcaps, chrome beauty rings, and GT Radial Champiro 75 tires, and a matching spare is located in the trunk. The car is equipped with power steering.
The interior features low-back bucket seats upholstered in black leather along with a matching dash pad, door panels, and carpets. The carpets are said to have been replaced in 2007, and amenities include wood trim, lap belts, and a Sony CD player. Replacement window seals and the removed factory radio are included in the sale. The right window slides need to be reattached, and flaws include a scrape and a tear on the dash pad and a tear and a puncture in the hardtop headliner.
Instrumentation consists of a 140-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and vertical gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 44k miles.
The replacement 2.3-liter M127 inline-six is equipped with Bosch mechanical fuel injection. Service in April 2021 included changing the oil and replacing the spark plugs.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission.
